Purpose:
The SYF Basketball Academy staff
is committed to athletic excellence. We are
preparing our athletes for the future. We are
committed to the development of skills necessary to
achieve this full potential in the highly
competitive environment of both secondary and higher
competition.
This Academy has been developed to
assist in organizing and prioritizing athletics
skills and performance. Additionally, this program
will help the Academy staff to maintain a proactive
approach in helping the athletes to secure the
highest academic opportunity available.
Mission Statement / Goals:
SYF is committed to promoting
excellence in athletic intelligence and its overall
approach to competition. Excellence will be achieved
by developing a competitive sport, self-discipline
skills and an extraordinary knowledge of the game in
the athletes prospective position.
SYF will instill a comprehensive
knowledge of the game in each athlete, while
instilling a life-long commitment to excellence and
athletic integrity.
Goals:

To instruct athletes on proper
skill and techniques of their respective
position

To maintain & increase the
athletes' knowledge of the game

To equip the athlete with
appropriate tolls, creative thinking and
problem-solving skills of the game

To focus the athelete's
intellectual attitude of goal-setting abilities
of the game.
Classroom Skill Setting:
Players will be assigned to the
following class groups:
Group 1 - Point Guard Class
Group 2 - Shooting Guard Class
Group 3 - Wing
Group 4 - Low Post/Center
Athletes' Responsibilities
to the Program:

To attend all training and
classroom sessions

To maintain an open learning
environment

To complete all assignments
before leaving sessions

To participate in all drills
and learning sessions

Come to sessions prepared to

Academy Rules:

To maintain an average of 2.5
on all assigned lessons

group
